You have probably heard KOFO mention the Garnett Community Foundation many times; but, do you know what it is? Many area residents, including some in Garnett, don’t. The Garnett Community Foundation makes charitable giving easy for the individuals, families, businesses and organizations who choose to partner with them, to fulfill their charitable goals and benefit the community. Their vision is to foster a thriving, inclusive community for future generations to call “home”.
The Foundation was created in 2001 to rise funds to repurpose the old National Guard Armory into a workout center for the community. The Garnett Recreation Center was the first major project supported by the Foundation. The Foundation has donated to many other projects within the City of Garnett, such as the Capper Memorial, Cedar Valley Reservoir, Garnett Liberty Fest, the Patriotic Banner Project, the Santa Fe Depot and many more. The Foundation says they will continue to do so to meet their goal.
