The Kansas Department of Health and Environment Bureau of Waste Management has announced the recipients of Waste Tire Grant Products and several area organizations and local governments have received a Grant. In Franklin County, the City of Williamsburg received $4,430 for tables and benches. USD 389 in Wellsville received $17,333 for surfacing. In Miami County, USD 367 Osawatomie Ozone Sports and Fitness received a Grant for $3,349 for tables and benches, Holy Trinity School in Paola received $9,680 for surfacing. The City of Garnett, in Anderson County, received $2,516 for tables and benches.
Over $400,000 in Grants were awarded to fund projects that include the use of recycled tire products, including playground surfacing and picnic tables. The Grants were funded by revenue collected through the Tire Excise Tax at 25 cents per vehicle tire fee.
