The Miami County Commission has awarded the construction contract and committed funding for Metcalf 2.0. The Metcalf Road Reconstruction Project from South Second to South 16th Streets in Louisburg is expected to begin later this Spring or Summer. The duration of the project is estimated to be five to six months, depending on weather. The total project will cost $5.7 million, with over $3 million provided by mid America Regional Council Grant. The County and the City of Louisburg both plan to contribute half a million apiece from the counties quarter cent sales tax money, with the City also agreeing to $90,000 in both 2023 and 2024.
Plans are to widen the road as well as resurfacing, curb and gutter upgrades, storm water improvements, a bike path and sidewalks on both sides of the street. Also, a traffic light and turning lanes at Metcalf and South Fifth Street by an elementary school and a high visibility pedestrian crossing at Metcalf and Thomas Drive.
