The new Consumer Price Index shows food prices are still going up at a fast pace, increasing one percent in March after going up one percent in February. USDA Economist Matt MacLachlan says part of the price rise is due to increases in energy costs to produce the food. He adds some is due to the Russia/Ukraine Conflict:
MacLachlan says consumers need to be prepared for more price hikes in the coming months; not only at the grocery store, but also expect price hikes at restaurants also, as they are affected by the cost increase in food supplies.
