Anderson County property owners, concerned over increases in their recent round of property valuations certainly aren’t alone and they are seeing higher rates of increase than some other metro counties in the Region. Anderson County appraiser Adam Wilson says the median value of residential properties in the County increased over 26% and 6.76% for commercial properties. Anderson County hiked taxes more that four times inflation plus population since 1997, much more of a burden than neighboring counties, Franklin, Coffey and Linn.
Local Real Estate Agent, Beth Mersman, says sale prices on average appear to be about $50,000 higher than two years ago, driven by limited supply and low interest rates. She says Anderson County used to have an average 40 to 60 residential listings on the market; but, today there are only seven. If you have concerns about your valuation and would like a hearing regarding it, call the Anderson County Appraiser’s office and they will walk you through the process.
