The person killed in a one vehicle accident in Bucyrus Wednesday afternoon has been identified as 29 year old Burgundy Rose Thomas of Peculiar, Missouri. She was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident happened when her vehicle, traveling east on 223rd Street, went over the railroad tracks, lost control and went into the south ditch at a high rate of speed. The vehicle came out of the ditch, became airborne, flying over 3rd street, and landing in a tree and the roof of a house across the street, before flipping into the back yard of the residence. There were two occupants in the residence at the time of the crash and they were unharmed.
The Miami County Sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash, with the assistance of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and its Crime Lab.
