Ottawa Fire Department crews responded to call of a structure fire this morning shortly after 3:30. Upon arriving at 924 Mulberry, they saw smoke and flames coming from the northeast corner of the home, from the eaves, along the roofline. Firefighters immediately went to work fighting the fire, that was discovered to be in the center of the home in the attic area. The ceiling was opened and the fire was controlled to the attic. Ottawa Fire Chief, Tim Mathias, says the home suffered moderate structure damage and fire damage in the immediate area of the fire’s point of origin. He added that the cause of the fire looks to be electrical in nature.
The Red Cross has been called in to assist the family, who fortunately were all able to get out unharmed. No word on how the fire was discovered or damage estimate.
KOFO will have more details on the fire at 924 North Mulberry, as they become available, including any immediate needs the family may have as they recover from this morning’s early morning fire.
