The Franklin County Children’s Literature Festival is being held today, in-person for the first time in two years. The Festival, attended by third, fourth and fifth grade students from several public and private schools in Franklin County, features presentations by authors, illustrators, musicians and storytellers from all over the Country.
Those students attending this year are in for a treat! Books and authors highlighted will be “Alphabet School” by Stephen T. Johnson, who is a Nationally known illustrator. Christine Taylor Butler, who has written more than 80 books, including the “Lost Tribe” series. Trae Venerable, an avid cowboy and outdoorsman who has written numerous books about the old west and cowboys. Shelly Simoneau, author of children’s books inspired by her childhood memories and experiences. Jason Sivewright, a Kansas City author who has written numerous books, including two about the Kansas City Royals. Louis Ruby, author of many historical fiction books and long time USD 290 music teacher, Allan Cunningham, who has written dozens of children songs over the course of many years.
The Literature Fest will be held at Ottawa University all day today.
