Drivers on Highway 59 need to be aware of a fatality accident at Highway 59 and Finney Road. Numerous law enforcement, EMS, and fire crews are on the scene of that accident, that also involves serious injuries. The road is completely blocked and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is diverting traffic away from the scene.
The call came in just after 4:00 this morning, of an erratic driver on Highway 59. Shortly thereafter, at 4:25, another call came in reporting an injury accident. Crews responding to the scene initially reported that the driver had fled the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has called for a search of the area for the driver and has asked the Kansas Highway Patrol for a helicopter to help in the search. The Ottawa Fire Department is on scene to help in extrication of the victims. The Ottawa Fire Department just entered into a Mutual Aid Extrication Agreement with the County this week.
Again, Authorities are working the scene of a fatality accident with other serious injuries at Highway 59 and Finney Road, just south of Princeton. Both lanes of 59 are closed in that area. If you are traveling in that direction, you will need to find an alternative route.
