The City of Garnett has a new fire engine. Toward the end of last year, Chief Wesley Skillman, applied for a Grant to purchase a used fire engine for the City of Garnett. Through the help of a foundation, $100,000 was secured then, using some Equipment Reserve Fund Money from the City, the department purchased a 2008 Pierce Dash from Brindlee Mountain in Alabama. The truck was originally bought new by and served, Loudoun County Virginia.
The City took delivery of the truck March 29th, 2022. Once the truck is put into service, the current reserve engine will be sold. The Fire Department’s current “First Out” truck is a 1992 Engine One. It will be moved to reserve and the current reserve engine, is 1988 engine, will be sold.
Go by the Garnett Fire Department and check out the new engine… pretty impressive!
