Fifty-ninth District Representative Blaine Finch, announced his retirement from the Kansas Legislature on Monday, after 10 years in the House, the last four as Speaker Pro Tem. In his announcement on the House Floor, Finch said friends and family were the key and he was coming home:
He added that for a kid from Ottawa to get to grow up and serve his hometown in the way he did is a big deal and he is forever grateful to those who supported him. Finch drove back and forth to Topeka everyday from Ottawa. He says he looks forward to less time on the road and more time at home and more time to focus on his business, Harris Kelsey Chartered Law Firm.
