A local Vietnam Veteran will honor his fallen brothers this Memorial Day. Seventy year old William Elston is a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 912, in Ottawa. He says he was trying to think of a proper tribute, when one day an idea popped into his head:
One step for each name on that Wall in Washington, D. C.. Elston figures it will take about 10 hours to complete the walk. He will be escorted all the ay by various law enforcement agencies and a support vehicle. He expects to arrive at the Veterans Memorial in Ottawa, around 4:00, Monday afternoon, May 30, 2022. Elston says anyone who would like to join him as he enters town and walk with him to the Memorial is welcome to do so. I say we all should be there to cheer him on this afternoon and thank him and all veterans for their service and sacrifice to our great country.
