The Douglas County Sheriff Office says they have identified the driver of a van that struck a girl and her grandfather on a motorcycle last month. Ten year old Brooklyn Brouhard, of Eudora, was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by 54- year old Barry Larson, also of Eudora, when the two were struck by a van on East 1900 Road on May 14th. The driver of the van left the scene, leaving its bumper behind. Brouhard and Larson were both taken to an area hospital after the crash, but Brouhard died the next morning.
Investigators located the van in the Kansas City area two days later but have just recently identified the driver. The Sheriff’s Office has chosen to not disclose the name of the driver, believing it would hinder their ability to take him into custody. They say they are working hard to locate this person and bring them into custody, once apprehended, they will provide more information. They continue to ask the driver to turn himself into authorities and bring some answers to Brooklyn’s family.
Anyone with knowledge or information about the suspected driver’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s office, or call 911.
