Former Secretary of State, Chris Kobach, has filed to run for the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. He’ll challenge State Senator, Kelly Warren and retired prosecutor, Kelly Mattivi, for the nomination on the Republican side, to succeed Derek Schmidt.
He announced a five point plan for the office and is heavily emphasizing election security. His plan includes pro-life action and implementing more protections against consumer fraud as well as eliminating the Kansas Conceal and Carry registration fees. Kobach says from vaccine mandates to attempts to restrict our Second Amendment rights, the Biden Administration and its allies in Congress have disregarded the Constitutional limits on Federal power. He says the most important officer that can fight back against unconstitutional actions is a State Attorney General.
If elected, Kobach says he will create a Special Litigation Unit in the AG’s office. According to the plan, the Unit will sue President Jo Biden’s Administration to defend Kansans’ Constitutional rights. If he wins his Primary Election, Kobach will face the only Democratic candidate in the race so far, Chris Mann, a former Lawrence Police Officer and Lawyer.
