The Bond for the City of Golden Appeal has been set at $3,500 following a Zoom meeting Monday, June 6, 2022, and an in-person bench trial has been set for October, 2023.
In October, 2021, the Miami County Commission voted against incorporation of a proposed City of Golden, in northern Miami County. The original Bond was set at $5,000; but, Jennifer Williams and her attorneys, who filed the original petition to incorporate the City of Golden, thought it was too much and only posted $100. County Attorney Sheila Schultz says that amount didn’t even cover the docket fees. Williams Attorney, Doug Patterson, says they paid the $193.00 docket fees. The issue is the $5,000 original bond, which was based on calculating the number of depositions that may be filed, which was estimated at 10, $500.00 each. The new amount is based on seven depositions. Judge Steven Montgomery says they have 21 days to pay the bond.
Williams filed the initial petition to incorporate about nine square miles north of Hillsdale Lake, into a city to block the march of Intermodal Warehouses into Miami County.
