With the announcement that 59th District Representative, Blaine Finch, would not be running for reelection, the first candidate to throw their hat in the ring for the position is an Ottawa resident. Rebecca Schmoe made the announcement in a social media post last night, saying that after Finch resigned, she started asking who the Republican side of the ticket was going to support and the response she received, surprised her:
As of this morning, June 9, 2022, Schmoe is the only candidate, Republican or Democrat, to file for the 59th District position. The primary election will be held August 2nd, the General Election on November 8th.
