The Grand Opening of Garnett’s new fitness court was held yesterday afternoon, Thursday, June 9, 2022, the Santa Fe Depot. With the theme of “Brighter Days For A Better, Healthier and Happier You”, the Garnett Recreation Commission launched the new outdoor Wellness Center. Representatives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, the City of Garnett, Kansas Recreation and Park Association and the National Fitness Campaign were on hand for the official ribbon cutting.
The center offers a variety of fitness stations and challenges for everyone and the outdoor court is available for free for everyone. The recreation center says the public can attend fitness classes with their certified fitness ambassadors, trained through the National Fitness Campaign and, along with the fitness court app, you can have a personal workout at your finger tips.
This is only the second fitness court in Kansas and the National Fitness Campaign intends to add 10 more new fitness courts in Kansas in the next year and a half.
