A man who has served Ottawa as a physician, coroner and county health officer and presided over the birth of thousands of Ottawans, maybe even you or your kids, is retiring. Dr. Bud Ransom has decided to “hang up the stethoscope”, after 42 years in the medical profession. A retirement ceremony was held for Ransom earlier today, Friday, June 10, 2022, at the County Annex, in the Commission Room.
Dr. Ransom guided Franklin County through a very tough couple of years, during the height of the COVID pandemic. In April, he received the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce’s most coveted award, the Russell Crites Community Service Award. He commented on the pandemic decisions:
Ransom has been a doctor since 1980 and is currently at Ottawa Family Physicians. No word on his actual last day on the job.
