The man who was driving the van involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a nine year old Eudora girl, is now in custody of the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. Jose Meza was booked into the Douglas County Correctional Facility last night, Sunday, June 12, 2022.
After hitting a motorcycle on East 1900 Road, the van Meza was driving, left the scene and went back onto east bound K-10 toward Kansas City. A couple days later, authorities located the van in the KC Metro. On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Meza was taken into custody in Martinsville, Indiana.
The Sheriff’s office had a warrant for Meza’s arrest as the suspected driver that struck the motorcycle on May 14, 2022, at East 1900 Road and Kansas Highway 10.
Nine year old Brooklyn Brouhard of Eudora, later died from injuries suffered in the crash. She was a passenger on the motorcycle driven by her grandfather, 54 year old Barry Larson, also of Eudora, who was also injured.
