The ninth leading cause of death in Kansas over the course of the past couple years, has been suicide. Forty two percent of high school kids say they are depressed and one third of those say they have thought about killing themselves. That is alarming, on many levels.
The K-State Extension Service is offering a class for people to learn how to recognize the signs of suicide and help those who may be having a mental health crisis. It’s called Q P R… Question, Persuade and Refer. Frontier Extension Director, Rebecca McFarland, with more information:
The class will meet on June 30th, from 1:00 to 3:00 in the afternoon. If you are interested, call the Extension office soon. The class is limited to 35 people and was about half full as of Friday, June 17th.
