A lot of time the news is almost depressing, with talk about all the negative things going on in the world. Today, a story that will make you feel food about humanity, or at least parts of it. The KOFO Good People Award.

A local couple in their 80’s have come under some bad fortune lately. A storm brought down a neighbors tree limb that went through the roof of their house. Then a separate event, an even larger tree crashed through their garage.

They hired some people to clean up the messes, but one stole valuables from their house and stripped copper tubing from them. Another stole family heirlooms and other items. Facing condemnation from the city, another neighbor introduced himself and has since performed, what has been described, as miracles, for the couple. He mowed the grass, recruited people to help with the weeds and clean up trash. The man has done repairs on their house and is now working on fixing the damaged garage. An incredible amount of time and effort has gone into his tasks and though offered, he refuses to accept any money for his work. He’s doing it because he wants to and it needs to be done.

KOFO would like to salute Mike Johns for going above and beyond to step up and help someone in need.
