State Fire Marshals and the AFT have concluded the on-scene portion of the investigation into the cause of the fire Monday night, June 20, 2022, that destroyed Carpenters Chiropractic in Pleasanton. This is the fire in which firefighter Joshua Haynes was severely injured and eventually died from his injuries. Investigators have determined the fire was accidental, so there will be no criminal investigation. Evidence from the scene has been sent to the ATF’s Fire Laboratory for further evaluation. A more detailed cause will be shared at the conclusion of that evaluation
Thirty five year old Josh Haynes received his Final Escort Home yesterday afternoon, Friday, June 24. Law enforcement and fire units from various departments were part of that escort to Pleasanton. Pleasanton firefighters set up their ladder truck at the intersection of 6th and Main Streets with an American Flag. Haynes arrived about 2:00 yesterday afternoon.
