Have you ever hopped out of the car to run and pay for gas, or grab a drink and leave your children in the car? It seems to be happening more and more; but, more and more, cars are being stolen with kids in them. Granted, none in our area, but the Kansas City area has see five such cases in the past few weeks. “Kids and Cars” Director, Amber Rollins, says it doesn’t matter how old the children are:
A few tips from “Kids and Cars” to prevent such an incident. Put one of our child’s toys or a diaper bag in the front with you to remind you they are in the car. Create a routine of checking the backseats each time you get out of your car. Ask your childcare provider to call you if your child doesn’t show up as planned. Never leave your children in the car when you are out— take them with you into the store.
