Hot dogs, every one loves a good hot dog. This is National Hot Dog Day and Americans celebrate wieners every day of the year. Did you know there are 25 million frankfurters sold at baseball stadiums every year? That’s just major league ball parks. As they say, it’s as American as hot dogs, apple pie and baseball. People eat them in so many ways, boiled, pan fried, grilled, rotisserie, baked or just raw. What do you put on a big ol’ footlong? Ketchup, mustard, relish, onions, mayo, cheeses, bacon, chili, sauerkraut, pretty much anything you want. Very few foods accommodate so many condiments.
Hawaii eats more hot dogs than any other state. More than 14 times any other state. Americans consume 20 billion a year.
The convenience store 7-11 sells the most grilled dogs a year, over 100 million and we are all familiar with Nathan’s hot dog eating contest on the fourth of July, where contestants stuff as many foot long wienies down their throat as they can in 10 minutes.
What are hot dogs made of? Who cares, they taste awesome and they’re cheap.
