An 81 year old Lawrence man drowned this morning, Monday, July 4, at Lone Star Lake, south of Lawrence. Deputies were notified just after 6:30, that a boater at the lake found a man unresponsive in the water. The man was brought to shore and life saving measures were unsuccessful.
The man was apparently part of a group that regularly swims at the lake. He had broken off from the group to head back to shore, but was found a short time later by the boater. No foul play is suspected. The name of the victim was not released.
