An accident on I-35 just outside of Ottawa, yesterday morning, Thursday, July 7, left the driver of a semi-truck with minor injuries. Just before 3:30 yesterday morning, a 40 year old man from Oklahoma City, was traveling northbound in a semi, pulling two FEX-EX trailers, when he fell asleep at the wheel. The truck left the roadway and overturned in the ditch. Fortunately, the man only received minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Franklin County EMS.

The crash closed I-35 northbound at the K-68 interchange for about two hours as crews worked the scene and tow personnel worked to right the truck and trailers to remove them from the scene. Traffic was rerouted down Tennessee Road.

A 47 year old woman from Lane escaped a dramatic crash with minor injuries. The vehicle was traveling south in the 1200 block of Vermont Road when she fell asleep, left the roadway, struck a bridge sign and a guard rail, then rolled multiple times down a steep embankment. Minor injuries were reported but she refused treatment at the scene.
