A serious blow may have been dealt to companies who use a tool known as the “Dark Store Theory”. This theory allows corporations to reduce property tax bills by classifying their stores as ’empty buildings’ for the purpose of calculating tax liabilities. Franklin County Administrator, Derek Brown, says a recent Kansas Supreme Court Ruling could be a real change:
