There are some incredible downtowns in smaller Kansas communities. However, some may be diminished by one or two dilapidated buildings. One major barrier to making the structures useful again is the high cost of renovation. Help has come through the New Community Revitalizations Program through the Kansas Department of Historic Economic Asset Lifeline Program, or “HEAL” Two area buildings will benefit from the program. The Om Grown Yoga and Wellness Collective in Baldwin City will receive nearly $42,000 and the Start Block Restaurant in Osage City, will receive $65,000 through the program.

Lieutenant Governor and Commerce Secretary, David Toland, says seeing downtown districts turned into more attractive and vibrant places to live and work, along with creating new jobs and services for Kansans, is key to the State’s prosperity.
