Good news for sports betting fans. Kansans finally have a date they can officially place their legal sports bets. Kansas Governor, Laura Kelly, announced yesterday afternoon that four state-owned casinos will start accepting wagers in person and on mobile platforms on September 1st and will officially open September 8th.

Kelly says sports wagering, like all gaming in Kansas, is owned by the state and operated by the Kansas Lottery. Under temporary rules and regulations, the state’s four casino gaming partners can start to launch bets just in time for the first NFL game on September 8th. The Kansas Lottery says Kansans will be able to place their bets starting at noon on the first for the 1:10 p.m. Kansas City Royals game against the Chicago White Sox. Residents will then be able to place bets for the football season starting on the 8th.

The move has been in the works for about four years and was finally passed by the Kansas Legislature in May and became law in July.
