A jet-ski rider drowned at Hillsdale Lake yesterday, Sunday, August 21 according to a Media Release from the Miami County Sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s office deputies responded to the Hillsdale Lake Marina Sunday in response to a report of an unresponsive person. They were joined by members of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and Miami County Emergency Medical Services.
The Miami County Sheriff’s office says during the investigation, deputies learned a jet-ski rider was found unresponsive in the lake waters by the Marina. The rider was pulled onto the Marina and bystanders attempted life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived. The rider was transported to a local area hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The identity of the victim has not been released and the cause of death is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s office.
