Connie Lee Beets, 75, of Osawatomie Kansas, stepped into heavenly glory surrounded by those she loved on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
Connie was born January 20, 1949 to Joseph E. ‘Doc” and Marcella June Stevens Beets. She was the middle daughter of three precious girls. She was a mother hen to both Mary and Rhonda. She attended the Lane schools and while there she played in the band and continued to grow her musical talents throughout her life. Her true gift of music was her love for singing- she used her gifted voice to win local and state singing contests.
Connie became the mother of 5 children- James Edward Kehl, Michael Harrison Kehl (Lisa), Paula Loree Minckley (Wayne), Jason Ward Wylie (Delphia) and Shannon Denys Hardesty. While she moved around throughout her life, Lane would always be home to her. She developed many friendships through her life, some near and some far, but always close to her heart.
Her heart loved to serve and her hands loved to cook. She was one of the best cooks if you loved good home cooked comfort food. She used her love for cooking to bless family, friends and neighbors all of her life. Her chicken was finger lickin good, just like most everything she cooked. She was always looking for the next person to share her meals with. Every neighbor that moved in was welcomed with one of those meals. Even on the hard days, she would put her hands to work preparing something to bless someone else. She also used her hands to fix anything. She was fiercely independent and loved being able to take care of most things herself.
Her great love for music is one of the things she will always be remembered for. She loved to listen to, play and sing songs that touched the heart. She had a huge circle of musicians she did life with and their families became her families. Her music always brought her comfort and she loved to share songs with her family. She wrote songs for her dad and mom that she recorded for them. It was her way of expressing her deep love for them.
Connie had many arenas she worked in throughout her life, but the one she loved most and took the most pride in was an Adult Foster Care home that she operated in Lyons, Colorado. She cared for elderly people in her home-providing them home cooked meals and a homey environment to share their last years in. She also loved retail jobs and many of her customers became like family to her.
Her greatest pleasure was having friends and family visit. It didn’t matter what time of day it was, her door was open and her phone on. She was always willing to do what she could to help someone in need.
She had a love for Jesus and honored the Lord with singing songs of worship. Because of her love for
Jesus she is breathing freely and her body has been made new.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary LeVaughn Keith and her granddaughter Brayden Hollinger.
Her loving family that will remain here on earth until they see her in heaven include her sister Rhonda K. Snyder (Bert), her children Jimmie of LaCygne. Mikey of Paola, Paula Pooh of Colony, Jase of Garnett, and Shani of Topeka, 20 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends and family of the heart.
Pallbearers: Gaeron, Maeson and Eli Kehl, Devon, Dalton, Dillon Minckley, Landen Kehl, Chaseton Wylie,
Steven Sweeny, Daniel Hollinger and Cody Church.
