TOPEKA–Driving down a highway in hot weather is not the same as cold weather when it comes to your car tires. The Kansas Highway Patrol says they’re seeing more accidents this summer caused by tire blowouts. The K-H-P says if you let your tire get worn or the tire pressure is a little low, the heat can cause tires to overheat and add pressure to the side walls. This causes the rubber to start coming apart, creates a hole and eventually, the tire blows.
