OTTAWA — An Ottawa church expressed interest in buying the old Hawthorne School and using it for the church and as a community meeting center. Harold Wingert, pastor of the Grace Community Fellowship Church, told the Ottawa Board of Education Monday night that the church could find several uses for the building, which is in central Ottawa. The church could use it as an education center and for an after-school program, Wingert said. The church is willing lease the building, buy it as a rent-purchase or outright for $85,000, he said. The school board took the matter under consideration.
