OTTAWA — Although the city of Ottawa has tightened its belt because of budget shortfalls, it’s in pretty good shape compared to other cities, Dick Hedges, a municipal consultant from Fort Scott said.It’s important to have a financial cushion and the city has one, he said. At their work session Monday, the commission and Hedges discussed the need to hire a grant writer to get more grant money for various city projects.
