GARNETT — Area legislators say the newest revenue estimates paint a grim picture of the state’s finances. Legislators expressed their frustrations during a legislative forum in Garnett Saturday morning. Legislators said the revenue estimates are even worse than expected. They also said the state has no cash reserves to dip into. For several reasons, funding to the state’s schools will likely be protected from heavy cuts, they said. However, they say cuts for other state programs will get cut even more than expected.
