WASHINGTON — The Centers for Disease Control confirmed the first U.S. death from swine flu is in Texas today. Franklin County health director Midge Ransom said local medical officials are on monitoring the ouitbreak. She said the state has a special toll-free swine flu hotline at 1-877-427-7317. Operators will be on call from 8 to 5 Monday through Friday. Ransom’s office can also be called at 229-3530.
