OTTAWA — In the next few months, the Ottawa school board will want to hear from you about possible changes to school facilities. Ottawa Superintendent Dean Katt said the board is trying to decide what Ottawa schools will need for the future. According to estimates about the number of future students, Ottawa schools need enough space for 12 elementary sections, he said. A section is a complete group of students ranging from kindergarten though fifth grade. The board has narrowed its list of options for meeting
that estimate, he said. He says some of those options include building a new elementary school at 19th and Eisenhower and expanding the existing elementary schools. There are also options for remodeling the high school and middle school. The board wants to get input from the public, he said. The district is getting estimates for the costs of each of the remaining options, he said.
