OTTAWA — Ottawa University’s all-time strikeout leader Eric Cordell has signed to play professional baseball with the River City Rascals of the Independent Frontier League. The Rascals are a minor-league team based in O’Fallon, Mo. Cordell may make his professional pitching debut tonight for the Rascals in an exhibition game against the Kansas City T-Bones. Game time 7:05 at CommunityAmerica Ball Park in Kansas City, Ks. Cordell was this year’s KCAC pitcher of the year. The Braves’ catcher Tony Hurla has also signed a professional baseball contract. Hurla will play for the Dohren Wild Farmers, a German professional baseball team.
