HARRIS — A 31-year-old Ottawa woman was killed in a traffic accident early Saturday morning north of Harris on K-31 near the Anderson and Franklin County. Maria Carmen Lear was killed when the vehicle she was riding ran off the road. Eric Bowers, 35, Ottawa, was driving east on K-31 when his vehicle ran off the road into the south ditch and lost control when it got back onto the road, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. Troopers say the vehicle struck a field entrance and flipped over. Bowers was taken to Anderson County Hospital, Garnett. Another passenger in the vehicle, 35-year-old Jason George Ferris, 35, Horse Shoe, N.C., was taken to KU Medical Center, the Highway Patrol said. Bowers’ condition wasn’t immediately known. KU Med Center wouldn’t confirm that Ferris was a patient.
