OTTAWA — The Ottawa Suzuki Strings begins its 35th year of its summer programs Wednesday at Ottawa University. Ottawa Suzuki founder and director Alice Joy Lewis was honored by the Ottawa City Commission for the anniversary. This year’s summer programs will include Sound Encounters, the Suzuki Institute, Mainly Mendelssohn and the Brian Lewis Young Artists program. The programs also include concerts by the students and by internationally-known musicians including Ottawa’s own Brian Lewis, violinist Mark O’Connor, violinist Catherine Cho, viola player Roger Myers, cellist Anthony Elliott and Jeff Bradetich and his double bass. The summer programs will go through July 3.
