The unemployment numbers for the state of Kansas are out and even though the numbers aren’t great there is possible light at the end of the tunnel.  According to the reports the initial unemployment claims are trending downward and continuing claims have begun to level off over the past six weeks.

Franklin County’s unemployment rate jumped to 7.9 percent in May from 7.6 in April, while Anderson County saw a jump to 8 percent from 7.9.  Douglas County’s unemployment rate in May was 5.5 percent up from 5 percent in April.  Osage County has a 7.2 percent rate which is up from 6.8 in April.
