OTTAWA — The microburst also caused severe damage to the corn in Franklin County. Franklin County Extension agent Darren Hibdon says the corn harvest in those areas hit by the storm will take a serious hit. Corn in an area roughly bisected by U.S. 59 was blasted over or hit by hail when the storm passed through and yields will be affected, he said. He also said that soybeans also appear to have been hard hit. Corn and soybeans are among some of the most important crops for Franklin County farmers.
