GARNETT — Garnett city officials will look at creating a swimming area at the Cedar Valley Reservoir. City officials will work on a proposal this fall and winter for a bare-bones swim spot at the lake as long as the plan is approved by the city’s insurance company. Earlier this month, Commissioner Mike Norman said he was asked by a resident about a swimming area at the lake. Norman said the resident noted that water skiing was allowed at the lake, but not swimming. City officials have opposed swimming because they feared the city’s insurance company would cancel the city’s coverage. However, changes in state law may make the insurance company more willing to consider swimming at the lake. The city will work on a plan for next summer.
