LYNDON — A Vassar teenager was killed Tueday morning at the junction of U.S 75 and K-268 north of Lyndon. Kerensa Kaye Ward, 16, was stopped at the stop sign on K-268 and pulled in front of a pickup truck going north on U.S. 75, the Kansas Highway Patrol said. The pickup, which was pulling a trailer with a car, struck Ward’s pickup in the driver’s side door. Danica Barone, 15, Lyndon, was a passenger in Ward’s truck and called Ward’s family from the scene on her cell phone. Ward’s family rushed to the scene. Barone was taken to Stormont-Vail Medical Center. She was treated and released.
The driver of the other truck, William Meade, 51, Melvern, received minor injuries. A passenger in Meade’s truck, Turner Meade, 14, also received minor injuries.
