OTTAWA — On a 4-3 vote, the Ottawa Planning Commission recommended Wednesday night that the northwest corner of Ninth and Main be rezoned to accommodate a proposed video rental store. City planning and codes director Wynndee Lee says the planners who voted for the proposal were reassured by a traffic study that didn’t show much impact as a result of the proposed video store. She said that planners who voted against were concerned that the video store wouldn’t be a good fit for the neighborhood. The city staff recommended against the rezoning. The planners have wrestled with the proposal for several weeks. The proposal goes to the city commission for final action.
