OTTAWA — It’s school time and Franklin County Extension agent Rebecca McFarland said that even parents have some homework they can be doing. Parents should make a point of asking their students what they learned in school and how their day went, she said.  Depending on the students, parents may have to show a bit of finesse in getting answers, she said.  That may mean waiting until they’re involved in other activities and they’re more willing to volunteer information, she said.  Parents should also make a point of meeting teachers and learning about the school and activities, she said.
