OTTAWA — Ottawa University says that one of its students has H1N1 swine flu and is staying home. OU officials say the student lives off-campus. Franklin County health director Midge Ransom said because the federal procedure for confirming swine flu has changed, there may never be solid confirmation of cases in the county. However, Ransom said testing shows that almost all of the flu in Kansas at this time is swine flu. She said you should adopt normal precautions against catching the flu and if you think you got it, stay home. Local medical providers has created a speaker’s bureau on the current influenza situation. To arrange for speakers contact Ransom at the health department, by e-mail mransom@mail.franklincoks.org or by phone at 229-3531.
