OTTAWA — A 35-year-old Ottawa man has been arrested in connection with a traffic accident that killed a 31-year-old Ottawa woman June 6. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department says it arrested Eric Bowers Wednesday afternoon on an Anderson County warrant for second-degree murder. Maria Carmen Lear was killed when a vehicle driven by Bowers ran off K-31 near Emerald. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Bowers’s vehicle then struck an entrance at field and flipped over. Bowers and another passenger, Jason George Ferris, 35, Horse Shoe, N.C., were injured. Bowers was being held on $100,000 bond, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said.
