GARNETT — Anderson County emergency preparedness director Marvin Grimes said the condition of a rural county fire truck poses a public hazard. Grimes told Colony’s pumper truck broke down during a Sept. 9 fire near Lone Elm. When the pumper was sent to a fire in Kincaid it broke down again and had to be towed to a shop, he said. There is only one dependable fire pumper truck in the county, which creates public safety issues, he said. Grimes said he has found a used pumper-tanker that the county can afford. The county commission told Grimes to talk to the company that owns it.
Grimes said he would like to buy two fire trucks and station them in separate locations.
