LAWRENCE – U.S. 59 was closed for three hours Monday because of a crash involving a tanker truck hauling liquid nitrogen seven miles south of Lawrence. The Kansas Highway Patrol said David Van Sickle was driving the tank truck north on U.S. 59.
Troopers said a car driven by Janice Loux, Lawrence, was going west on County Road 460 when she crossed U.S. 59 in front of the truck and was hit. Loux was taken by helicopter to KU Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Troopers said Van Sickle complained of possible injuries but refused an ambulance.
